It is a privilege to be the Principal of King Edward VI Community College (KEVICC). We are blessed with some wonderful young people, supportive parents and a talented team of staff.

Our campus is a delight with the River Dart on one boundary and the beautiful Sixth Form Centre in its own grounds on the other side.

What is particularly special about KEVICC are the excellent relationships that exist. We listen to the students, we give them a lot of responsibility and they accordingly have responded positively. It is a happy and successful school.

Our exam results are amongst the best in Devon, both at GCSE and A Level and we also have outstanding success with special needs students.

We are also a college that is not afraid to make brave decisions as demonstrated by the decision to have no uniform, to launch an innovative year 7 curriculum and our early adoption of healthy locally sourced food for our school meals.

More recently we have developed the international dimension of our work. In October 2007 the college was awarded the International Schools Award which is a recognition of the importance of this work. The college not only has links with France, Spain and Germany but also California and Kolkata. The Comenius Project has also established partnerships with schools in Cyprus, Denmark and Lithuania. We have been selected by Devon as a Pathfinder College for the International Baccalaureate which will be introduced in September 2009.

The sense of energy and commitment at KEVICC is tangible. We are all learning something new everyday.
